NSF M3X grant supports human-inspired robot security
Our lab has received an NSF award through the Mind, Machine, and Motor (M3X) program to study how robots can withstand and recover from adversarial physical interactions with people.
The project, Collaborative Research: Human-Inspired Cyber-Physical Security in Human-Robot Interactions, will run from January 2027 through December 2029. The team will combine human decision-making models, virtual-reality experiments, and AI-based search to identify realistic robot vulnerabilities and develop more resilient robot controllers.
The research aims to advance robot safety in shared human environments while supporting graduate and undergraduate research and K–12 outreach.
