Analysis and Modeling of Worker Trust in Automated Guided Vehicles for Manufacturing Workplace

Abstract

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) still struggle to earn operator trust on manufacturing floors. We ran a simulator study that varied AGV deceleration rate, approach direction, and the worker’s expected path to model how those factors shape perceived trust. The findings highlight directional and kinematic cues that can calibrate worker trust and guide the design of safer, more collaborative human-AGV work cells.
