A Systematic Review of Human-in-the-Loop Adaptive Systems: Design, Implications, and Future Directions

Abstract

Using the PRISMA methodology, this systematic review synthesizes 34 empirical studies of adaptive systems that respond to human states. It examines measured states, sensing and modeling methods, adaptive interventions, and reported outcomes to characterize current approaches and identify directions for future human-in-the-loop system design.
